Disclaimer: Although I’ve successfully used most of the easier hacks listed here on my Acer Aspire one, I’m not endorsing or guaranteeing the results of anything listed here. I’m quite happy to keep my warranty and to continue running Linpus Lite and not take a soldering iron to the motherboard. If you follow destructions instructions in one of the hairier hacks here and fry, brick or otherwise break your Aspire One… that’s not my fault!!

I wouldn’t even classify these as “hacks”….but rather methods to modify your system.
But if you want to call them hacks then you would need to satrt calling ” Install firefox on a windows Xp computer” a hack.
If you really want to cal a list of things ‘hacks’….you might want to look at the hackaday website…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack_(technology)
“Hack has several meanings in the technology and computer science fields. It may refer to a clever or quick fix to a computer program problem, or to a clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem. The term is also used to refer to a modification of a program or device to give the user access to features that were otherwise unavailable, such as DIY circuit bending. The general media also uses this term to describe the act of illegally breaking into a computer, better described as cracking.”
airtonix is a noob. pavs is right.
Gary, nice video for the Mac OS X install on the MSI Wind.
But you need to know that “OS X” is pronounced “OS Ten”. Only folks who’ve never used it call it “OS ex”.

One more AA1 mod: http://tnkgrl.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/modding-the-acer-aspire-one-hsdpa/
Hi,
I just bought a Acer One and I’ll be very interested in installing a different OS flavour such as Arch or Debian: does anyone have a custom USB image of these OSs, because I’d rather avoid going through the tedious and error prone process of configuring the OS for this particular machine.
Many thanks!
;) thx

NEW ACER ONE. APPEARS TO BE LINUX (SP?) HOW DO I INSTALL SOFTWARE FOR AIRCARD? MY IT GUY WORKED 3 DAYS, NO LUCK.
Hi…
I did some of the hacks mentioned above and everything seemed to be working normally. However, one thing I noticed is that the expansion card upgrade has to be done manually everytime I turn on the laptop. I mean, I added an 8-gb SD card in the storage expansion slot and it has been read as part of the SSD before the hacks I did. Now, I have to change the viewing of the side panel to “advanced mode” and then back again to “standard mode” before the laptop recognizes the additional 8 gb of storage. When I turn off the laptop and on again, it goes back to not detecting the expansion SD card.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks!
hey, you should add this to your hardware mods
