I Am Jobless And It Feels Great

Hi everyone. I have a good news and a great news. Good news is that the company that I worked for is down sizing, so they fired many employees including me. Which is good news for me, because I really hated working there. Great news, because it means I can spend more time over here in my blog and my other pet projects that has been stalled because of time constrains. From now on, starting the 1st of May I will be posting regularly over here and my other blogs, which has been pretty much stalled for the last couple of months. If you are an rss-only reader and haven’t visited the site lately, I would suggest you take some time visit the other “Haxor” sites I created and hope to populate them in the coming weeks. These sites includes:
That’s all for now.

Dear Pavel,
When I got made redunant by a Bookstore chain at the age of 40 I took all my savings and flew to Buenos Aires. Over the next 8 weeks I cycled westwards, crossed the Andes by bus and then toured Southern Chile before returning to Buenos Aires, again by bus. I had cycled 1,500 miles and then decided to do what I had dreamed of.
I emigrated to Holland from South Africa 10 years ago. Now at the age of 55 I have built a whole new life and spend lots of hours Linuxing (because I want to) and my girlfriend supports me in my hobby.
A priest friend once told me, “God never promised you a easy ride, only a safe harbour”.
If you are into travel I can recommend Namibia.
Free yourself from any shackles. Let go and see the World. With your talents you should and could land a job in any country.
Go for it & God speed!

Hi Wouter,
Thanks for sharing an inspiring story. I too, like you, would like to live my dreams; and one of my dreams is to make a living as a freelancer. I am tired of working 9-5 jobs for someone who doesn’t aspire growth and inspire excellence.
Live free, live well.
cheers,
pavs
What a fantastic attitude! Congratulations!
Thanks Clay! Nothing could be better than working for yourself. :)
Work at Sun by any chance?
No burnt, didn’t work at Sun.
I know you wrote this a while ago but…
I found myself jobless and homeless and so, after a number of years of this, I shut up. For a week. And asked what I want to do with my life.
Within six months I had started a new career in computing (this was at the age of 34 - without any prior experience).
Eight years later I am a senior sys admin. I am happy. I am confident. I no longer fear. So go for it. Do what you love, you may not always get to where you’re expecting but you’ll have an damned interesting life.
