New Look for Intrepid Ibex

The next iteration of Ubuntu gets a new look. I am not sure if I like it that much. A part of me wants to see a new Ubuntu which looks drastically different than the current theme, the other part of me looks at the new theme and says, “not exactly what I was hoping for”. But it’s not that bad either. You can judge for yourself and try it out.

The CD image can be downloaded from here:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/intrepid/alpha-1/

It is highly advisable that you do not install it on your main computer, but rather on a virtual machine. This alpha version is for developer to help weed out issues with new changes. There is no live cd or wubi installation available yet. Live installation will be available from the next alpha/beta release.

Here is how the new Ubuntu (named Intrepid Ibex), currently looks like:

I’ve never had an Ubuntu installation where I didn’t steer away from the default brown theme.

Brown is just not a stimulating color for me. A lot of times I end up selecting a Vista-like skin in Emerald Theme Manager.

Every time I come here I find something useful! I just have a quick question: Where did you get that background? I’d love to have it

I find that dark interface elements around a browser window make my eyes hurt immensely when I’m looking at a page with a white background. I love dark themes, but not being able to easily change the theme in FF3 to something not completely shitty looking makes this even harder. Thus, I steer away from dark UI themes.
