New Logo for BSD?
*Update: Changed the logo from beastie to puffy.
Linus Torvalds is often famous for his outrageous statements. One of those famous statements was made yesterday, that will probably go down in history as one of the funniest quotes ever made by Linus.

You can read his comment in context with the rest of his post here.
I just want to say this in record that I have nothing against BSD, but this is one of those comments that needs to be mentioned, regardless of your feelings towards the subject.
Here are some other outrageous comments Linus has made in the past:
“My name is Linus, and I am your God.”
Linus’ law (nr 76 of 271):
“Don’t claim to have a config option, if you don’t actually have the UI
to change it” (source)
“I have an ego the size of a small planet”
“An infinite number of monkeys typing into GNU emacs would never make a good program.”
“Really, I’m not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect.”
His quotes are popular enough to have their own wikiqoute section.
So what do you guys think of the new BSD logo? (fanboys can relax, it’s just a harmless phun)

Fun? Really? Most kind of this fun is very often a sign for anti-social behaviour and a lack of knowledge. Of course de Raadt is sick too to some degree, but you should really go out among real people - then you will see what’s fun and what’s just abnormal behaviour.
Ok chris, I will try to spend some time outside today. No promises.
Torvalds doesn’t mention FreeBSD, so why use the FreeBSD logo instead of the OpenBSD logo?
Linus always seems to find ways to alienate the people around him. He needs a little more self-control.
I wonder what he would think of this Tux the Penguin image. Fair play is fair play?
that’s logo Freebsd. The logo for Openbsd is a fish. I don’t know you show a evil logo.
OK I just realized I put Beastie instead of puffy (logo), but you get the idea. I usually think about beastie mascot when I think about (any)BSD, but that has changed since sometime now.
Honest mistake. :) But I won’t change it.
you are barking at the wrong tree mate! FreeBSD has nothing to do with Linus’ email…
I feel embarrassed for Linus… every time he tries to rip on someone he ends up looking like a bigger douche bag.
I use to fuck guys like Linus Torvalds in prison.
Linux boys apparently have decided to choose much smaller target now, after all those years fighting windows and mac os…
Guys, get the spirit, intent & gist of it all…
“…they [the OpenBSD crowd] make such a big deal about concentrating on security to the point where they _pretty_much_admit_ that nothing else matters to them.
_To_me,_security_is_important_. But it’s no less important than everything *else*; that is also important!”

This is the exact reason why i don’t use Linux. What does Linus thinks of himself. He is obviously not a god. I would ask him to STFU
i love it.
and what i love even more are the people that are now complaining about it.
I’m waiting on that day that Linus realizes that Linux was a big mistake!
Lol xD
Actually, you’re a complete tool for NOT changing the logo from the fbsd mascot (beastie) to the obsd mascot (puffy). The quote has nothing to do with beastie, or fbsd. The OBSD crowd has also done/said enough crap to deserve what Linus said. Just look at Theo, how many people have his ignorant flames pissed off. In any case, “but I’m not going to change it” — why not? Typical.
PUFFY!!!!!

Pavs, you do care about accuracy, you don’t care about the truth, therefore you’re an idiot.
Correct your logo error and the title of this post.
dave thinks Windows is worth something LOL
Can’t you see, he’s just hinting at future names for Linux distros!
Geez. I know it was a mistake, but I still can’t believe that all those people commented just to tell you that is was wrong. It’s messed up that people who obviously read this blog can’t leave positive feedback, but the second you mess up they all come out from everywhere in an attempt to be superior. Fuck that
This happens! specially, since I like to keep the comments totally unmoderated (except for spam). That’s the beauty of the internet. People can say whatever they want, if you allow them to. This also helps me grow as a writer and learn from possible mistakes. I try not to take it too seriously. Thanks for the support/criticisms.
These comments just made my afternoon…
I think Mr Torvalds right
As a 7 yrs “C” programmer I know that its best to keep the changes happening in source code then to code everything like it written in stone.
If we all had to use openBSD right now to do all the things we do now with are gentoo notebooks we all would relax the security a bit or alot and upgrade the hell out of the system in order to simple use it on a day to day work flow.
Right now we couldn’t switch to openBSD in order to save are lives
