What’s Your Favorite Distro?
Just added a poll on the sidebar (feed readers needs to visit the site to vote), asking you to vote for your favorite linux distro you most often use. It’s almost impossible to list all the distros out there for a poll like this. So, only distros I felt are more popular than others ended up on the list. There is also a place for “others”, where you can vote if your distro did not make the list. If there is enough request for a distro, that is not listed, I might update the poll with that entry.
I would appreciate if you guys take some time to participate in the poll, and leave comments if you feel like adding something to it.

i think mint and ubuntu should have been combined, mint is still very very closely based on ubuntu.
p.s: i am aware of debian~ubuntu and other stuff, but still mint is almost ubuntu only with codecs
What?! Arch isn’t on there! :-)
It’s the most popular Distro on 4chan’s /g/, followed by a tie between Gentoo and Ubuntu.
It’s the most perfect distro ever.
It’s a difficult decision, trying to choose 10 distros that might cover most users. Besides, I don’t think I have much reader base from 4chan. :)
Even though Mint is derived from Ubuntu, it has quite a large following of it’s own. Atleast from my experience.
I must second Ben, Arch Linux should be on there too. That’s why my vote goes to Gentoo. The idea about a rolling release system also exists on Gentoo.
Definitely Fedora. We use RHEL for our servers so I’m used it it.
I concur, I find your lack of Arch disturbing.
I removed PClinuxOS and added Arch. Let me know if there is any other request.
We use Suse in our job, but I prefer Debian in my PC. :D
Great work!, BTW it’s ubuntu not uNuntu in the votes!, cheers, Reine.
Fixed it reine. thanks!
Yeah, Arch :-)
Get voting, everyone!
I’ve been using Debian since “Woody”, upgrading since then (try doing that on an RPM-based distro) to my current branch of “Lenny” (aka testing) with a few “Sid” (unstable) packages.
I’ve tried Redhat, SUSE, and Ubuntu, but I’m content with Debian….
I am using PCLinuxOS so I voted ‘Other’.
As I am involved into detoxing MS users in favor of Linux, I find PCLinuxOS a better distro to get them to know Linux than Ubuntu, but it is all a matter of taste
I show them all the basic PCLinuxOS flavors (Plain KDE, PCLInuxOS Gnome, PCFLuxboxOS, PCe17os,…) and it is up to them to go their own way later.

I have voted for ‘Others’. I would have liked to vote for PCLinuxOS but it wasn’t listed ;-)

Sorry about the pclinuxos thing guys. Too late to add a new one I guess.
I would have to the say the grandfather Debian, though I use Ubuntu on my laptop, and CentOS at work.
I use debian and ubuntu at work, ubuntu in one pc and slackware in other pc at home. I prefer slackware.
But all of them are good, it have different target users.
Debian FTW! I’m happy to see Deb in 2nd place after Ubuntu - there’s nothing wrong with Ubuntu, it’s like an easier to use right off the bat that Deb, but after years of using Ubuntu on the desktop and Debian on the server, I’m now on pure Debian for my boxes. When I have to install things for other folks though, it’s always Ubuntu, amazed at how much they improve things every 6 months, it’s impressive.
i voted ubuntu, but wish that i could have voted Kubuntu. I like KDE.
lapubell, maybe we will start a poll on Linux desktop UI, next.
Centos really should be on the list; Centos is used on servers everywhere. Perhaps not a home or toy distro, but it’s the OS of choice for servers. Centos is the free version of RedHat Enterprise.

My favorite Distro is Sabayon Linux, an Italian Gentoo.
But i also enjoy and use Gentoo itself, Tutoo (an brazilian Gentoo), Mandriva and OpenSuse.
I prefer compilation Linuxes
why no DSL or even Puppy of MiniME?
and 1, aka Subiet, Mint _is_ based of Ubuntu so there is a resemblance. But the slight differences and tweaks makes Mint > Ubuntu. Heck the theme alone justifies it…
I love ubuntu. I found installing a new software/package in ubuntu very easy as compared to fedora/centos.
