According to Torvalds, he is not sure about the exact date when Linux was born. Some consider his announcement to be the actual date of birth for linux in August 26 1991. Others feels that the first official release of 0.01 to be the Birth date of Linux; which is today, September 17, 1991. As with every aspect of linux, there are controversies and misconceptions. Take your pick, I just need a reason to celebrate with a drink. ;)

Why controversies? Just celebrate on both the days. Like optatus mentioned above, there is always a reason to celebrate for a beer. :)
