MHProfessional Video Editing in Linux with Kdenlive
It’s easy to learn the basics of video editing, especially in Linux! This software is based on the FFMPEG and MLT frameworks so it can handle almost any video file format you throw at it. This quick tutorial will teach you how to put together a video complete with titles, transitions and effects, the program I used is called Kdenlive; It’s like Sony Vegas, except it’s free and open-source!

Wow! That was nicely done. Did you use recordmydesktop, xvidcap, other? What do you use to record your webcam? I just started trying kdenlive this week after trying several alternatives that didn’t work.

You can run kdenlive with gnome desktop. All you need to do is install the kde framework…
I use gnome desktop because I like it the best, and I also use several other kde apps… So there is no problems at all mixing it up a bit :)

Hi, I was trying KDEnLive, and it’s great, but I have a problem. It crashes so much that I cannot work with calm (I have to save lots of times) and thats really annoying. Any solution?

I used both Vegas Video and Kdenlive, but must say I like Vegas better.
Can’t really get my finger on it but Kden always felt like it wasn’t finished yet.
In reply to Sam: I ran Vegas on XP on a more than capable system and had it die on me dozens of times. Now a day’s I use FC-pro on Mac. OK it cost’s an arm and a leg, but I find it the absolute /-\ in video editing (for the moment).

How come linuxhaxor is the only one that doesn’t update? What the hell is wrong with this site and it’s moderators? Just take it down if you don’t plan to update.
I believe it is pronounced: “KDE nlive”, not “K Denlive. But still, it’s a nice tutorial.

To those who say that Kdenlive crashes all the time, try version 0.75. The one in the repos on Ubuntu is 0.5 and it is an absolute nightmare. I think that they started again from scratch with 0.7, it looks and works a lot better.
Overall a brilliant program and a brilliant tutorial. Kdenlive is what Linux has been missing for years.
