cGmail (check gnome mail) is an email checker and notifier applet for the gnome desktop written in python. cGmail will check periodically your account/s and will notify you on new incoming messages.

cGmail can use gnome keyring to store your credentials for security enanchments or, if you want, you can use a plain xml file. cGmail use gnome gconf to store its settings. The app can play sounds on new mails, so you are always alerted for new messages.

cGmail can use a fresh dbus notification to tell you that a new message is into your mail box.
